Scandinavian Living in Aberdeen

The Factory, on Yip Fat Street, is the coolest building on the block.

Standing amongst old, crumbling industrial warehouses, The Factory is a vision of yellow and black with its comic strip murals screaming cool, hip, fun, yet still very much industrial.

Inside, the comic strips continue throughout the lobby and every common area in the building.  I discovered the building over Christmas last year and came back to visit my friend Michelle who’s office, Manks, is located on the 3rd floor.

Even the vending machines in the lobby were covered in stickers with the same comic book graphics.

I loved their super cool back lit white acrylic and stainless steel mailboxes that also depict comic strip graphics.

Look what a splash of colour can do to the most mundane things.

And even inside, the walls were also covered with comic strips!

Manks is a wonderful two-storey office and showroom on the 3rd floor.  A beautiful spiral staircase connects their real estate office upstairs to their Scandinavian furniture showroom downstairs.

As soon as you enter, a pretty row of wishbone chairs in various colours greet you.  Someday, I want a long dining table with wishbone chairs in every available shade of blue.

I loved Manks’ loft style office with the white painted bricks, the high ceiling, exposed pipes and the raw concrete floors.  It’s the perfect backdrop for the beautiful furniture and it also echoes the Scandinavian-relaxed-no-fuss lifestyle.

Besides the wishbone chairs, my favourite pieces were the Alphabet Sofa, the Carvaggio Pendant Light and the Gravity Pendant Lamp.  If you’re a Scandinavian furniture lover like I am, then Manks is definitely the best one stop shop for all things Scandinavian in Hong Kong.  Lucky Michelle, she definitely has the best office in all of Hong Kong!
